I LOVE when passionate teachers stop by for a visit.
Do you want your students to love reading…but you are exhausted trying to prepare all the lessons?
Do you understand the importance of creating a literacy rich classroom that nurtures young readers…but sometimes you get stuck when trying to figure out where to guide each student next?
Do you know that guided reading is the best way to support your students…but sometimes you struggle with how to keep your other students actively engaged?
Do you study each standard carefully because your students deserve the best…but there are just so many that sometimes it gets overwhelming?
Do you have a classroom full of books (oh yeah and those boxes of books in your garage that haven’t made it to your classroom yet…but you aren’t sure which books are best for teaching inferencing and which one should be pulled for you next lesson mini lesson on analyzing character traits?
Do you know all those worksheets aren’t teaching your students what they need to learn…but it can be exhausting trying to come up with lessons and activities that promote higher level thinking day after day?
And most importantly, do you teach with passion and a sense of urgency every single day because you want only the best for each student in your class?
You sound just like me! I understand how you are feeling because I have been there! You are not alone! I am here to help! I want to encourage and support teachers, like you, who have a dedication to children and literacy!
I know how busy you are! You just don’t have the time to scour the internet and professional books for hours every day to create the standards-based literacy lessons that you want to provide for your students.
I’m here to help!
It is my passion and mission to help teachers just like you provide students with the literacy rich environment they need to thrive.
I am here to share ideas and resources that will make it less of a burden on you as a teacher to provide the type of literacy instruction that you so passionately believe in.
The ideas and lesson that I share are classroom tested, teacher friendly, and student approved! I have spent almost 20 years teaching early literacy, as both a classroom teacher in grades K-4 and as a reading specialist. I have a dual Master’s degree in Reading and Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University.
Everything I share is research-based best practice and has been proven successful with the students on my campus. My passion is to spread the joy of reading as far as possible….that includes classrooms full of precious children eager to learn that I may never personally meet…just like yours!
You can use my resources with confidence!
A Little Bit More About Me….
I live in Texas with my husband and two children. We were high school sweethearts and have been married for over 20 years. My husband has served as a police officer for the last 20 years. My life as a law enforcement officer’s wife is never easy…but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Our daughter is a nursing student and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She will be graduating next year and looks forward to starting her career as a pediatric or labor and delivery nurse. Our son will be graduating high school next year as well.
As a family, we love to travel…if I could afford to take a cruise to a different destination every year I would be one happy girl! Hopefully, when we retire we can travel a lot more!
In addition to my family, I love chips and salsa, dark chocolate, colorful pens, HGTV, and all things Vera Bradley!
I would love to hear from you! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and share your story!
