It's time to get the creative juices flowing for the week with Monday Made It.
For me, this week's Monday Made It is all about pillows, pillows, and more pillows. My daughter left this morning form her last high school cheer camp. I made a custom pillow for each of the seniors and coaches on her team.
I started out with eleven 14" X 28" pillow forms from Hobby Lobby.....each purchased on a separate trip with my favorite 40% off coupon. It was a time consuming effort, but saved over $50 on the project so that made it worth it!
Next step was to choose coordinating fleece patterns. The top two fabrics were used for the girls and the bottom two were used for the boys on the team. I was fortunately that this is not "fleece" season in Texas so I was able to find some pretty good deals on the fabric.
Next, I cut the fabric to allow for a 7" margin on each side of the pillow form.....2" to allow for the depth of the pillow and 5" for the ties. Before assembling the pillows, I had their names embroidered in the center.
Next, lay the two pieces of fabric on top of each other and pin together so that your cuts will be nice and straight.
I made 5" cuts 1" apart all the way around the fabric. Making a cardboard pattern made it easier to keep the cuts uniform.
Finally, tie the two piece of fabric together to form the pillow.
The result is adorable pillows.....
....in the hands of a special group of seniors as they left for camp.
I am off to check out the other link-ups in hopes of finding inspiration for my next project. This group of seniors will be back home and celebrating the 4th of July at my house so I need to find some festive recipes....any suggestions?
