Five for Friday and a Giveaway

It's time to start the Friday Happy Dance!  I am linking up with everyone's favorite Friday linky!  If you are feeling lucky, check out a great giveaway at the end of this post!  The winner will be chosen tomorrow...so hurry and enter so you don't miss out!
I had a little April Fool's Day fun with my kiddos.  I adapted my plan from one that I originally saw here on Pinterest....Don't you just love Pinterest?
After we all had a good laugh, the kids got to enjoy real brownies during our read aloud time.

The transmission started acting up on my car, but fortunately it was under warranty!  When I took my car in for the repairs...they gave me the keys to this little "bug" as my loaner car for the week.  While it's not a Volkswagon, it reminds me a ladybug!  Don't get me wrong...this car is "cute" but I was VERY happy to get my Texas-sized Mommy car back!  I no longer have to feel like a ladybug about to be squashed on the freeway!
I just love springtime science! Our caterpillars have quadrupled in size and spend all day eating.  The kids are absolutely fascinated with them and would sit and watch them for hours if I would let them.  If you have never watched the butterfly life cycle in your class, I would encourage you to do it this year.  It is such a fascinating process to watch up close and you will not be disappointed!
Now...these ladybugs are quite different.  They never move and the kids ask multiple times every day, "Are they dead?" Unfortunately, I can't promise that they aren't dead because they sure do look dead to me.  This is my first experience with ladybugs so I don't know what I should expect.  Hopefully, they will start moving around or doing something soon!
It was geometry week in math.

Then, we made animals and described how they were made using geometry terms.
These are some of the other activities we did this week from this Geometry Bundle.
Opening Day is one of my favorite days of the year.  We brought a little baseball into the classroom with this unit.
I have also teamed up with Coast to Coast Kinder for this Opening Day Celebration and Follower Appreciation Giveaway.  You are invited to take a moment to enter below to win $25 TPT Gift Card, $15 in Jamberry Product, and two baseball units for use in your classroom.

  1. I will be ordering my caterpillars at the end of April to have them in the classroom for Open House in May. The kiddos loooove to share them with their family and tell them all about what they've learned. I've never done lady bugs so make sure to blog later on how all of that went!

  2. I am wanting to do ladybugs this year. Our district is very specific about what life cycles we can do. We have meal worms and moths. I will be rooting for the Astros, Cubs, and Braves

  3. I saw your baseball packet listed on Teach Two Reach 2nd Grade Happenings. I really like the beginning, middle, and end, and the setting, characters, problem, and solution templates for the interactive notebooks!
