Some Lovely Activities for Valentine's Week

Each student was given the opportunity to create their own unique box for receiving letters, cards, and special treats from their friends.  This is always one of my favorite activities each year because I love to see the creativity.

In our writing portfolios, we added "Things I Love".  The matching artwork was courtesy of the fabulous Art with Jenny K .  She has this activity available on her site as an amazing freebie!  If you are looking for a last minute idea for Valentine's Day, be sure to check it out!
Finally, we wrote each of our classmates a personal letter to put in their Valentine's box.  This is a Valentine's tradition in my class.  The kids get to practice their letter writing skills while sharing some heartfelt words of encouragement with their classmates.  For the first few letters, I provided a template with sentence starters to get them started.  The sparkle on my template comes from one of my favorite artists Glitter Meets Glue Designs.  After a few letters, the kids become more comfortable and don't use the template as much.  If you would like to try this activity in your class, it is available as a FREEBIE....just click on the graphic below.
